Description
Alignment wedge in high-strength 6082 aluminium for changing the position of the hitch carrier
The position of the ball head of the towball indirectly sets the horizontal position of the hitch carrier. Not all ball heads, and in particular the necks of the towball, are perfectly level. If the ball head is tilted towards the vehicle, the fitted hitch carrier will also tilt towards the vehicle automatically. The part of the hitch carrier facing away from the vehicle rises. The effect - more ground clearance at the rear of the hitch carrier. If the ball head and the neck of the towball tilt markedly away from the vehicle, the hitch carrier may, in an unfavourable case, no longer even sit level. The quick-release coupling compensates for this up to a certain tilt of the towball. If, on the other hand, the tilt of the towball is too great, the hitch carrier may hang down on the side of the carrier facing away from the vehicle. Ground clearance under the hitch carrier is reduced. Especially when the hitch carrier is loaded, this is not ideal and can lead to bottoming out and to ground contact on rough terrain.
To change the position of the hitch carrier nevertheless, and to raise or also lower it despite a "misalignment" of the towball, we have developed the Heck-Pack alignment wedge. Made of high-strength, lightweight aluminium and milled to a precise fit from solid material, this wedge can be fitted between the hitch carrier and the quick-release coupling. Depending on how the wedge is fitted, it raises or lowers the hitch carrier at the rear, the part facing away from the vehicle. The scope of delivery includes screws and nuts of different lengths for fitting the wedge between the quick-release coupling and the hitch carrier. Our alignment wedge can of course also be fitted where a lowering mechanism, tip-up mechanism or our tip-up lowering mechanism is already fitted.
Scope of delivery: aluminium alignment wedge, 30 and 35mm screws of property class 10.9, self-locking nuts of property class 10
