Box for the hitch carrier

The HECK-PACK rear box is an aluminium transport chest in tread plate. It is fixed on the hitch carrier. The hitch carrier sits on the towball. The box itself does not go straight onto the ball. That is the box for the hitch carrier, and the chest on the towball for kit used in hunting, the field and outdoors.

Sizes and the matching fixing are on the product page. The side fixing uses turnbuckles. Two extra padlocks secure the box against theft.

What is the HECK-PACK rear box?

A weatherproof aluminium transport box in tread plate for the hitch carrier. It is the storage space on the carrier, not a folding luggage bag and not a plastic rear box that is pushed onto the towball on its own.

Is the box mounted directly on the towball?

No. The aluminium box is fixed on the HECK-PACK hitch carrier. The hitch carrier is mounted on the towball. Without a towball and a matching carrier it cannot be fitted.

What is an aluminium transport box on the hitch carrier for?

What if the lid hits the rear of the vehicle?

The box can be turned 180 degrees so the hinge side is on the outside and the lid opens away from the vehicle. Before driving, check the gap to the rear, the number plate and the lights. Where space is tight there are versions with a removable lid.

How heavy are the hitch carrier and aluminium box together?

A 1200 × 600 mm aluminium box weighs about 18 kg depending on the version. An OPTIMAL hitch carrier 1200 × 600 × 175 mm weighs about 17 kg. Together they are about 35 kg, plus lighting and further accessories. Hitch carrier, box, accessories and contents must not exceed the towball nose weight.

Is the aluminium box food-safe?

No. Gralloched game or venison should also lie in a plastic sheet inside the aluminium box.

Can the aluminium boxes be powder-coated?

Yes, on request. Delivery can take 3 to 4 weeks.

What should I watch when using hitch carrier and box together?

Hitch carrier, box, accessories and contents all count towards the towball nose weight. A 1200 × 600 mm box weighs about 18 kg, an OPTIMAL 1200 × 600 × 175 mm about 17 kg. If the box or the load hides the number plate or the lights, extra lighting is required in Germany.
